Nat is the quiet of the two. Where Theo is always in the middle of things, always active, Nat is more thoughtful and you can often catch her just staring at the space in front of her, or gazing into the distance, watching the clouds or marveling how the breeze moves the grass she's lying in...
The people around her sometimes made fun of her hair, because it has the most impossible colours in it - sometimes. But they stopped as soon as Nat could talk because she would gaze into their eyes and seriously tell them that she had this hair because she used to be a lake-maid. Like a mermaid but living in the most beautiful lake. In her past life. And as long as she remembers the cool of the lake, the sun shimmering through the water and warming her skin, the greenish water, the blue water, the dark water at full moon, her favourite... As long as she will remember it, close her eyes and be there, in the little lake with her sisters in the middle of the woods, in that little clearing. As long as she remembers, the colours of the lake will sometimes shimmer in her hair. And she will always remember because it is a part of her. The place she is in whenever she gazes into the distance or stares at the space just in front of her...
People don't make make fun of you when you tell them your story and they see and know deep in their hearts that it's the truth. So Nat dreams, remembers but she is also here. In this life, where she is just a girl with a big old soul who knows and sees just a tiny bit more...
So far she has not shared her idea of clothing and I will not pressure her but offer her something from time to time until we find clothes she loves.

Boys...
I love how my wish list dolls sometimes get me to make dolls I would probably not have attemted right at that moment.
I keep forgetting about boy dolls especially when I look at my stash of wefts lying around that all scream "girl" ;)
So when I made Henley I was very excited, especially in combination with the brushed mohair wig as I hadn't made one of those in a very long time (if I can call anything during my doll making days a very long time as I really haven't made them that long I guess). So I was happy when another wish lister asked for a boy. A boy who almost happened by himself with the little scar on the forehead that I didn't plan but that fits him just perfect...
And he gave me courage to try to make dungarees once again after I had given up on them in the past because they never turned out the way I wanted them too. Many makers supported me and helped but in the end I would not have been able to make the dungarees I envisioned if Julie Colby of Inviting Play hadn't held my hand through the process!
So here is Magnus, one of the few boy dolls I made and I can't wait to make the next boy...

Like so many boys he is proudly sporting his scar. It proves he's a "real boy" |
He didn't want his tattoo on the "usual place" but to wear it where a boy would |
All ready |
His hat has a stone with natural holes in them attached. We found the stone on my favourite beach in Ireland and it will make sure he's lucky wherever he goes |
